Am 5. Mai gibt Michael ein Doppel-Seminar "Der Orchester-Sänger" und legt anschließend im Bailongo auf.

Michael stellt zwei herausragende Sänger vor, die das Genre geprägt haben, und zwar:

CHARLO
In the late 1920s, Carlos Pérez - “Charlo” - virtually invented the way of singing with an orchestra. In an incredibly productive spell, he made 800 recordings in the years 1928-1931 with Canaro and Lomuto before becoming a soloist, making around 1100 recordings in total. His voice is remembered for effortlessly raising the quality of any performance. We'll explore the many facets of his career, and see how well he stands up to the greats who came after him.

FRANCISCO FIORENTINO (stage name: Fiorentino)
has acquired a legendary status as the ultimate cantor de orquesta (orchestra singer), thanks to an extraordinary series of recordings made with Troilo in the early 1940s. Eighty years later, the mystery remains: How is it that he never achieved the same quality before he sang with Troilo - or afterwards? Just what makes them so good? In this seminar, we’ll explore these questions, paying particular attention to the many different moods and energies that Troilo and Fiorentino evoke.

Michael Lavocah aus Norwich/UK ist Autor von Tango-Büchern und ein begnadeter Kommunikator über Tango-Musik. In seinen exzellent präsentierten Seminaren nimmt er die Tänzer mit auf eine packende Reise durch die Musikstile, ihre Protagonisten und ihren historischen Kontext. Während der Pandemie veranstaltete er zusammen mit Dag Stenvoll online das wöchentliche Event "Tango by year", die Kult-Status hatte mit 200 und mehr Beteiligten aus aller Welt; für mich das beste Event in dieser Zeit, das bei vielen Menschen ein tieferes Verständnis für die Musik bewirkt hat.
